THE GRANGE

Bevere is a small historic hamlet to the north of Worcester, located close to the banks of the River Severn.

The Grange, a late Victorian farmhouse, occupies a prominent position overlooking Bevere Green within the Conservation Area.

Glazzard Architects were commissioned to design a series of substantial extensions and internal alterations to the house, providing additional bedrooms, a self-contained annex and basement leisure facilities including a gym and swimming pool, together with new garaging.

The new accommodation is arranged as three distinct volumes that respond sympathetically to the scale and character of the original farmhouse while introducing a more contemporary architectural language internally. The two-storey extension continues the form and detailing of the existing house, maintaining its presence within the conservation setting.

A single-storey glazed link connects the main house to the third element, conceived as a contemporary barn structure. This composition allows the additions to remain legible as separate elements while creating varied and light-filled internal environments.
