This self-build house nestles high up on the western slopes of the Malvern Hills and is within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The idea was to provide a modern, simple home able to be constructed by the homeowner. The concept is for a simple cedar clad ‘box’ that rests over a masonry plinth.

The house emphasizes its sloping site by positioning the 5 bedrooms at ground and first floor levels with the open plan living areas on the top floor and benefitting from far reaching views to the west and a private garden to the east.

The building is heated by a ground source heat pump and incorporates a mechanical ventilation system as well as high levels of insulation and airtightness.
