Tulketh Mill,                       Preston

The regeneration of a listed cotton mill along with redevelopment of the site to include additional car parking and a new retail centre was carried out on behalf of The Carphone Warehouse development company.

The mill building itself has a floor plate of nearly 50,000 square feet of which 3 floors have been fitted out as call centre and office accommodation. This included not only the renewal and refurbishment of the historic features of the building but also sensitive negotiations with planners and fire officers to establish a sensible, modern working environment within confines of an historic building.

The masterplan proposal was for a new retail frontage to the site including primary access and delivery areas, all knitted into an existing residential area and in the curtilage of a listed building. Key to the new layout was the listed brick chimney that now stands as the key focal point to the new entrance and opens up the dramatic backdrop of Tulketh Mill.
